I've structured my practice to be as efficient as possible to offer low prices, but I am flexible to meet patients’ needs if they are willing to pay more (e.g. I’m willing to have appointments after business hours or on the weekends).
To perform a thorough initial psychiatric evaluation, I need to gather a lot of basic information (e.g. past medical history, medication history, etc.). Patients who are willing to submit this information securely online before the appointment receive a significant discount because it saves time and allows us to delve into more nuanced topics during the appointment.
I generally do telepsychiatry appointments (video visits), but will make house calls when a patient needs a controlled medication. Due to federal law, prescribing controlled medications (e.g. medications that have a potential for addiction/abuse like benzodiazepines for anxiety or stimulants for ADHD) require an in-person evaluation (subsequent visits would be video). How this would work is after our initial video visit, if we both agree to start a controlled medication, then I would come to your home and take your blood pressure and do a basic physical exam (mainly just listening to your heart and lungs with a stethoscope). I don't even need to come inside your home, I just need a place for you to sit down to take your blood pressure. Prescribing other psychiatric medications (e.g. antidepressants or mood stabilizers) does not have this in-person requirement.
I am an out of network provider for all insurance plans; however, many will reimburse you a significant portion of my fee if you submit a bill that I can provide you. I’ve made my fees as low as possible so that most people can afford them even without insurance.
