Patients may email me at contact@JeffWyssMD.com or send me a secure message by clicking “Secure Message” below. Some patients may prefer a secure message because although my email server is HIPAA compliant, your email server probably is not (HIPAA is a federal law which requires special security requirements for storing patient data to prevent it being accessed by unauthorized people). I check my email and secure messages frequently and prefer these methods over my cell phone (720-310-0363) because I often am unable to answer my cell phone and my voicemail is not HIPAA compliant (i.e. not as secure as my email or secure messages). If you would like to speak with me on the phone, I prefer an email or secure message requesting I call you.
I answer all messages within 1 business day. If you have an emergency and/or are thinking of harming yourself or others and think you may act upon these thoughts, please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital’s emergency department.
Phone calls/emails/secure messages are free, but if a phone call takes more than 15 minutes, I will have to charge a full visit fee.
Patients schedule appointments online and pay fees by credit/debit card (which is charged when the appointment is made). You will receive a full refund if you cancel the day prior to your appointment or earlier (no refund if you cancel the same day as your appointment).
I generally do telepsychiatry appointments (video visits), but will make house calls when a patient needs a controlled medication. Due to federal law, prescribing controlled medications (e.g. medications that have a potential for addiction/abuse like benzodiazepines for anxiety or stimulants for ADHD) require an in-person evaluation (subsequent visits may be video). Prescribing other psychiatric medications (e.g. antidepressants or mood stabilizers) does not have this in-person requirement.
For video visits, I will email you a Google Meet link (which is secure and HIPAA compliant) before your appointment time.
You can upload prior lab results or medical records by clicking “Upload Records” below. Medical providers are required under HIPAA to email patients medical records if requested.
Initial evaluations are 1 hour appointments. You will receive a discount if you enter background information securely online when you schedule the appointment. This allows us to spend time on more nuanced topics during the visit.
Follow up appointments are either 30 minutes or 1 hour depending on your preference (psychotherapy appointments are usually 1 hour).
Most patients who are prescribed medication are seen at least once per month when they are starting or switching medications. When patients are stable on medications, I often see them less frequently (depending on their preference); however, you must be seen at least once every 3 months to continue to get refills.
Patients who receive psychotherapy are usually seen once a week, but this can be less frequent or more frequent depending on your preference.
